I have asked a similar question before, but was more so aiming at the mac osx answers.
I am interested to see what devices you own or are looking to own in the near future.

Blackberry Bold and Ipod touch but TBH I probably wouldn't use it on a regular basis anything that small. Maybe just to try it out.
Give me a free iPad then we're talking

Love Android - have an Irrational hatred for Apple in any shape or form (they just p*ss me off) and I agree with Leesautos pones are too small to be doing this kind of work on, especially if your paying for a licence would seem like a waste - and you couldn't expect staff to use their own phone and its too expensive to provide as they will break it!
I could imagine an ipad being good for entering chassis numbers and registrations in the car park but they can use a pen and paper as far as im concerned its not much effort you have to go outside to get it anyway so it's minimal extra effort to write it down then type it in, plus chances are once you have written it down you would want to do everything else for the job on a proper computer because it's easier!

I agree with all of the above.
However for some things it could be useful, I certainly wouldn't be expecting it to replace the desktop versions, although on the iPad its pretty close as it stands.
With regards to a licence, the iPhone licence for FileMaker Go is currently £11.99 for iPhone and £23.99 for iPad from iTunes / Appstore. Also, each purchase allows it to be installed on up to 5 authorised devices.
There will be no connection restrictions in place from our solution and no additional cost's involved from our side, we will purely be making our system compatible with FileMaker Go in an upcoming patch.

Well that all seems pretty reasonable. I would probably make use of an Android version if it was available, I wouldn't expect our staff to do so, nor would I provide them with the equipment. But I have remote desktop on my phone and it's useful now and again and I'm sure an Android GA would be to. I just wouldn't let it stand in the way of the development of what is becoming a fully fledged system.

There has been very little effort required on our part to make it work on mobile devices so far, which is a good thing. Since it has not been a major task, we thought we may as well make it compatible.
The web-based interface we have in beta will only require some adjustments to scaling for it to be compatible with other devices and will work from any web browser. So that should have the android / blackberry devices covered.
At the end of the day, its like you say.. if its there you may use it occasionally, but then again may not. From our perspective, we have nothing to lose by making it work aside from perhaps a few hours work.Last edited by SWS Developer; 23-07-2010 at 08:02 PM.

Hi Every one.
i would definitely use this on an iphone and will be getting one in the near future. We are new to GA3 and it has been in operation in our workshop for 3 weeks now. Its been a major shift in our business as it was all paper work before!
I have found that i am often going back and forth from the desk top looking up various vehicles and putting in data (Being in Australia we dont have DVLA look up)
Dealing with 20-30 vehicles a day and 8 technicians on hand it can be hard to acces a free computer.
Also One of the main reasons i went with Ga3 was its Support for Mac/Apple products.
