We are still tweaking / finalising GA3 so it works flawlessly on these devices so its not ready yet, but rest assured the moment it is, we will let you know.
- Almost all of the features in the desktop version of GA3 will be supported
- iPad is highly recommended over an iPhone due to screen sizes
- You will be able to use it as a client for network versions
- You will be able to use it as a standalone for single user*
*There will be no synchronisation facilities for single user, you will however be able to copy the files back / forward via iTunes to your device to ensure you are working on the most recent copy. Single User version will not require a network connection
Whilst this looks great on the iPad, the iPhone screen is a little small for using it effectively, the current pre-release iPhone interface may suite you better, however if you have an iPad you will not want to miss this !
Further details will be available shortly.

Just a poor quality photo of GA3 running on both devices, I will have something better to share soon.
One thing I am sure of, the iPad version will not disappoint ! It looks / works identical to GA3 on your desktop give or take a few things the iPad / Apple currently do not allow such as printing etc.

Using: Single User system.
Latest version of Filemaker Go & GA3.010
iPad Touch issue...
Trying to get GA3 on my iPad Touch (iOS v4), but I get error message:
Version Required: 10
GA3 Requires FileMaker 10 or
higher and you've opened it in Go
1.0.2. Please contact us on 0844
357 0600.
[OK] [Web]
I appreciate that I won't be able to work live alongside the office setup, but I thought I'd be able to do some off-line stuff like browse through the database, check customer/vehicle details, update stock records, etc

I am aware of this, to be honest I am glad that I put it in place and that it actually prevented you opening the system at the moment. Not that I want to restrict access, but more so that I don't want it to cause issues.
Wont be long :-P
Also, did you mean iPad or iPod Touch ?? iPad doesn't have iOS v4 yet.Last edited by SWS Developer; 25-07-2010 at 03:41 AM.

Not really been following this section very much.
but i am now thinking of buying an ipad, how is the use with a single user coming along.
And is the camera as bad as people say on the ipad2.
I thought it would be good when a customer comes in for initial estimate to go to the car with the ipad, and take a couple of photo's and fill in an estimate in g.a.

Its certainly not as fast as using a desktop version, not tried with the iPad 2 yet, it may well perform better since the iPad 2 is supposedly a lot more powerful..
Single user (copying files to ipad) is quicker than using it as a client to a desktop (remote over network)
I don't find it too bad at all, but don't use it in the real world myself as you know, mainly testing and experimenting with.
We have a lot of performance updates to do in GA3 this year so those should help.
If you have an ipad, you have nothing to lose, since its very inexpensive for FileMaker Go to make GA work, as for buying one specific for GA3, you have to remember GA3 is really a desktop app, we are just trying to make it the best it can be on a mobile device.

Has any one had any experience with the ipad2 running as a client to desktop?
If so how have you found it to use ie. how responsive it is etc.
