Default iPhone / iPad Interface - Public Beta

    ________________________________________________________________________________

Whilst this is still under development, we thought we would release a preview version of our iPhone / iPad interface. This is included by default with the latest Network Version update to GA3.010
    • This is only available for Network Versions.
    • Up to 5 connections are allowed
    • The interface is still in the early stages, so please bear with us.
    • It may not be the greatest looking thing, but we will get there....

    What it can currently do
    • Search / View / edit / add customers
    • Search / View / edit / add vehicles
    • Search / View / edit / add stock
    • View / edit / add appointments
    • View Invoices, Jobsheets, Estimate (View only at this time)

    Setting Up

To enable access via your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch follow these steps on the Server Machine
    • Go to File > Sharing > Instant Web Publishing
    • Click to turn on Instant Web Publishing
    • If you receive an error that the port is in use, try changing it to 8080
    • Skype and some other programs may use port 80 (which is the default web-server port)
    • Make note of the URL
    • Click OK to close

Some routers may also require that you adjust port forwarding options, to forward port 80 to the host machine's IP address. Unfortunately the instructions for this can vary by the router's manufacturer / model, however the instruction guide for your router should provide instructions.

With a little extra setting up, you can also make the data available over the internet
However, Please be aware that we have not added any security in place at the moment, so this is not yet advisable. Therefore, we recommend leaving it accessible only on your secured local network.

Also, please remember that the above remote interface is currently pre-release, you may (or may not) encounter issues with it, so please take this into consideration.

Once set up, you should be able to browse to your servers IP address via Safari on your device.
    i.e http://192.168.1.7

If you are having issues, please post your questions on the forum...

Out of interest, on Blackberry, does it open at the correct size or do you have to zoom out ?

There will be an additional interface available soon, mainly for normal browsers but should cater for other devices such as tablet pc's and iPads..

on blackberry the only problem was it would zoom in twice before opening any thing. But will try using a different browser to see if it cures this.

Thats what I was wondering... The iPhone interface is set at a specific size to purposely fit the display so on other browsers its rather large and usually needs to be zoomed out.

The other interface(s) we will be adding will not behave this way.

Here is a little update to the remote interface, download this file and copy it to your c:\Garage Assistant V3 Server\ folder over-writing the existing one. It wont affect your data files so its zero risk.

    http://downloads.sws-solutions.co.uk/GA3_Remote.fp7

Its mainly a tidy up of the entire interface, with a few issues fixed along the way.

You may also notice that the ability to edit a document has been added, this is something we are experimenting with, there may be issues when it comes to stock tracking etc.

Its still a pre-release, so please bear that in mind.

Hi, will this become available on the singe user GA3? It would be really useful for me as I'm not always in the office and to be able to access the system on the go would be brilliant. Are there any screen shots available for us to view?

There will also be an interface for regular web-browsers which will allow us to show the information in a similar way to how it is shown in GA3.

If your using it on an iPhone /Ipad or touch then use your two fingers side by side to scroll within the box. One finger scrolls the whole page, two scrolls the list..
